Are You a Culture Healer?

At the beginning of the year, I spent a considerable amount of time talking about it being the time to launch and build something. While many have been encouraged to do this, there are many others who still dread the notion or feel that it’s not the right time. I too have been hesitant to launch out in a new direction because certain things just didn’t seem to be lining up the way that I wanted them to. This has truly been a challenging year. However, in the midst of that challenge I was presented with a challenge; to become what God has been calling for in the hour that I find myself.

With that in mind, you’re probably going to notice a shift in both what I write and how I write. The reason for this is that I want to be more of what I know that I’m called to do, and that is to be a culture healer.
What does it mean to be a culture healer? A culture healer is the essence of what Jesus described that his “church” or governing body of sent people would be; salt and light (Matthew 16:18 and Matthew 5:13-14). In other words, culture healers are light bearers. They shine the glorious light in dark places with the desire to see the darkness displaced and the glory of God to abide. They are salt in the sense that they preserve culture and work to prevent the further decay of culture and want to see it redeemed, revived, and restored.
It’s my hope and prayer that as time grows from here on, I will be connecting people with a heart to be culture healers. Don't think this a strange thing. Some would say that it is fulfilling the seven-mountain mandate. Some might interpret it to simply mean that we are becoming change agents. However you choose to understand this, know that I believe that each and everyone who finds their way here can be what God has created them to be. It’s true that I will pull from both of these other terms because our call is to have influence in each of the seven mountains of society.
I also pray that as this grows in the way that I believe God would have me to grow it, you who have kindred hearts will find great encouragement, strength, and an equipping to be the culture healers that God has ordained and commissioned you to be. So, ask yourself the question, “Am I a culture healer?”
