A couple of weeks ago, I shared how when you are building God’s way, it requires that you prioritize God in that process. I want to go a bit further in this by pointing out another thing that must be considered when you’re building things God’s way.
In the book of Genesis, there’s something that we often call the biblical mandate. It is the foundational thing we find that God desired for humanity from the beginning. We’re to rule, subdue, and have dominion over everything that God put under our charge as the caretakers of the land we were placed. However, things became quite skewed when Adam and Eve fell. Nevertheless, that mandate did not change and Jesus came to restore us back to a place where we could once again fulfill the mandate.

Building With a Heart for Blessing Others
Building God’s way includes a mandate to love. It is part of what is known as the great commandment. When asked about the greatest of the commandments, Jesus pointed out that the ten that were given to Moses could be boiled down to two; love God and love thy neighbor (Matthew 22:37-40).
When you’re building God’s way, you are building with the mindset that you want to please God. Everything that you do is to be motivated by the thought of “how will this bless God? Will He be pleased? What would He like?” That’s the very thought that He had when He fashioned the Garden in which Adam and Eve were placed. In the book of Genesis, you can see how God carefully began by creating the light for day and night to give order to our day. He gave us land and water to enjoy both. He placed a garden with foliage, food, and beauty. Then He crafted creatures and animals to share the land, sea, and air with. All of this wasn’t just for Himself but for us as well.
We should be able to look back at the thing that we’re building and say, “My how glorious this is and it reminds me of my heavenly Father!” When David commissioned the resources for the construction of the temple for God, he thought through every detail. When it came time for Solomon to fulfill that process and build it, he did exactly what was set up so that what his father dreamed could become manifested and that God would be pleased. For Jesus, building the Church was a labor of love for which he was willing to die! He loved his Father and us that much.
As we are building the thing God has called us to build, we are also to be a blessing to our fellow man. We are to ask, “How will this bless my neighbor? Will they want to be a part of this? Will this cause my community and friends to flourish and prosper?” Yes, it’s nice to know that we can become rich, notable, and prominent when we build something. However, our building should be something that goes beyond us. It should be something that speaks well of the God we serve and the love we have for those we share this world with. It doesn’t always have to be grand, but it should be of significance.
Build God’s way. Build what God has called you to build, as a blessing to God and others. Do the thing that pleases and blesses. It’s my prayer that as you build, God is able to say “This is my child in whom I am well pleased!” That should be his words until He says “Well done, good and faithful servant! Enter into my joy!” let your neighbors say “What a blessing it is that you are here! What a joy it is that you would do such a thing!” Have a heart for being a blessing! Love builds with blessing in mind. That’s building God’s way!
