Do You Dare to Go?

When this year began, I spent a number of blogs speaking about God’s desire for you to launch and build. It’s my prayer that you’ve found great inspiration and strength to do that. I believe that although there have been many challenges this year, you have been able to courageously launch into something or build the thing that has been a passion for you. However, if you have not yet found your way, I want to share a bit of encouragement with you.

God’s greatest joy is in those who dare to go. He is so pleased by those who say, “Here I am, send me (Isaiah 6:8!)” When humanity first failed Him in the Garden, God did not give up on His Creation. He looked for a way to restore them back to a place of wholeness. At a time when things looked their darkest, He called a man named Noah and told him to build an ark. Noah answered the call, not even knowing what an ark was or what it meant to rain and flood.
God later called a man named Abram to father a nation. Although Abram was old and had no idea what he was getting himself into, he yet agreed to answer the call of God to go to a land that he knew not where it was and become what God said. Can you imagine leaving everything you know and are comfortable with, to venture somewhere blindly to become what you cannot even wrap your mind around and at a time and age when most would say is impossible?
Jesus called twelve to become apostles. Initially, he told some of them that he was making them fishers of men but in reality, he was making them a company of people who he could send out as agents and ambassadors of a Kingdom that he was revealing.
I don’t know what it is that God has previously laid on your heart to build or launch but it’s my prayer and hope that if you have not done so by now, you find the wherewithal to go and do what He’s said. This is the time to be a sent one. I know it can be scary because when you think back to Jesus and the twelve, he at one point told them “Go, and remember that I am sending you out as lambs among wolves (Luke 10:8).”
Fear is natural. Knowing that you are being sent out to launch or build can be frightening, especially when you’ve been told ahead of time that there are wolves or some type of predator lying in wait for you. You may fear a competitor, the IRS, the banker, the marketplace, the unstable economy, or it may be something else. Yet, notice that Jesus tells his disciples that in spite of all the wolves that they might face, he goes on to tell them not to worry. He tells them to confidently go, not worrying about carrying with them what is customary or normal (Luke 10:4).
You’d think that you would need money, luggage, and more when preparing for a trip. However, Jesus had them go without being focused on those things because he didn’t want them to be overwhelmed by the paralysis of analysis of the what’s, the how’s, and everything else that stifles action.
Let me conclude this by asking you the simple question: Do you dare to go? Are you willing to say to God as Isaiah, “Here I am, send me? I’m willing to go and do all that you have called me to do.” Even though you don’t know every detail of accomplishing the task, are you willing to accept the assignment God is giving you so that you can see the fulness of what God says will come by going where He is sending you? I pray that your answer is yes. I pray that before the end of this year, you can report that you’ve begun the work and you are seeing wonders unfold. Dare to go!
