The Testing of Your Faith

The last few weeks have been a trying one. If you’re like me, you had certain expectations that may or may not have gone the way you thought. To put it bluntly, many fully expected that President Trump would be serving two terms. Many prophets prophesied that he would. When the presidential inauguration happened on January 20th and President Trump was not taking the oath of office, it did something.

There were some prophets who immediately came out and publicly apologized for the word they gave. Other prophets stood firm in their prophetic declaration. They reaffirmed that while it does not appear to be that President Trump is still God’s chosen for the next four years, they firmly agree that at an appointed time, God will intervene and vindicate. Still, there are others who believe that God did indeed intend for President Trump to two terms, but did not necessarily mean consecutively.
In all of these varying interpretations, it has caused confusion for many believers because they do not understand that there are many factors regarding the prophetic. If you have been following me for any amount of time, you will no doubt recall that the last couple of years, I have shared my own prophetic thoughts regarding the season in which we are in. I have shared how this is a season for the apostles, prophets, builders, pioneers, and innovators. This is an important thing to consider because I believe that as we have transitioned into this season, we are witnessing a new breed of prophet.
It is true that throughout the Bible there are types and shadows, principles, and patterns. What many people fail to realize is that even in those things that are consistent, God is not confined to how things have been. While it is true that God remains the same, yesterday, today, and forever, this does not mean that how we have seen Him, in scripture or in experience, is all that there is to God. As Christians, our constant pursuit of Him in our relationship is like any other; it a continual discovery of who He is now.
It’s my belief that we are in a season where we are witnessing prophetic pioneers. I believe that many prophets that we are seeing today are entering uncharted territory, and because of this, the prophetic insights that are being released requires greater discernment, faith, and integrity.
One thing that I have come to understand at this time is that as we are moving through this new season, it is one that God is using to mature His Church. For too long, many in the Body of Christ have been spoiled by the “and suddenly” moves of God. Too many are uncomfortable with the call to “wait and behold the salvation of the Lord.” This is because we live in a day of instant everything. Five-minute oil changes, instant rice, coffee, and information at your fingertips if you have the latest mobile device.
This need for instant results has created a paradox where Christians believe that if God doesn’t do things in a certain way or in a certain time frame, it must not have been God’s will or the word was wrong. However, if we are in a season where God is trying to mature His Church, it stands to reason that part of this requires the development of patience. James 1:3 states, “you know that when your faith is tested it stirs up power within you to endure all things.” I believe that all of our faith is being tested. As it’s being tested, we are discovering that either our faith is being fortified, or it is being shaken. Is your faith being shaken?
Do not allow the days that we are in to bring you to a place of faithlessness. Allow it to solidify your faith. This must happen by remaining in God and His word. Since prophets see and hear in part, understand this requires a constant pursuit of God. Any prophetic word that leads you away from God is derived from a false prophet. However, if that word leads you to pursue God, know that this is the ultimate goal. Too many people put their faith in the wrong thing and it shook their faith. Those who stand firm in their faith will grow, mature, and have the ability to endure until the manifestation of what they were believing for. I pray that as you have endured these last few weeks, your faith remains. The testing of your faith is to prepare you for where you must go, for who you must become, and for what you must do. Allow this testing to prove you steadfast and unmovable.
