When You Have Hit a Wall

We’re officially through the first few weeks of the new year and another president has been inaugurated. The reality of that has now had time to fully solidify in the minds of many people. You have many that have celebrated, although really wondering deep down what that means for the next few years. You have others who had an expectation that things would have gone another way and they too are wondering what happens next. It’s like building a house or some other type of building project. You hit a wall, a snag, a hiccup, or an obstacle that impedes the progress you thought you were going to make. This is really how most people feel right now.

Throughout 2020 and part of 2019 I mentioned that we are now in a season that is specifically for the apostles, prophets, builders, pioneers, and innovators. However, many were challenged by the outcomes of the 2020 election and the subsequent inauguration of the new president. Have you ever watched one of those home building or renovation shows where the designer or project manager begins a project only to come face to face with some obscure inspection rule or regulation that halts production? It throws off the building schedule, costs valuable time, and sometimes even more material and labor expense that wasn’t previously anticipated. This is the kind of blow that people are feeling now.

With all of the prophetic words that went forth in relation to the outcome of both the election and the days that followed, the revelation that things did not happen the way many believed that it would leave many wondering “what do we do now” or “what’s next”?

A good builder is not easily swayed by such snags. While things of this magnitude can be devastating, the best ones are familiar with the realities that things like this can and do happen. As a prophetic company, we too should realize that there are many prophetic events throughout scripture that do not unfold in the way that many believe. We know this because we can see in the prophetic words of Isaiah, he prophesied the coming of the messiah.

The first thing we see in this is that this was one prophecy that was given, where it did not automatically come to pass. Centuries passed, and Isaiah died long before the fulfillment of the prophecy. Did that make him a false prophet? Of course not! The second thing you realize is that even when the prophecy came to pass through the birth of Christ, many still did not realize it because he did not show up how they assumed he would. Nor did his mission unfold the way they imagined or interpreted that it would happen.

However, you have been impacted by the unfolding of events of the last few weeks and months as it pertains to the prophetic words that many have made regarding the election, this does not take away from what God ultimately wants to be accomplished. It is still a season for the apostles, prophets, builders, innovators, and pioneers. This means that there are things that people who fall into this category must accomplish.

There are some who believed that the prophecy about two terms for President Trump was to be two consecutive terms. This did not happen. Others believed that although Biden has come into the office, that this is an illegitimate presidency and therefore can be undone at any time in the coming weeks or months. Then there are those who believe that the prophecy does not necessarily have to be two consecutive terms but two terms none the less.

There are even some who believe that there is an underlying presidency taking place simultaneously while Biden is in office; that whatever is happening right now, President Trump is still making moves and could be happening outside of the sphere or reach of the DC swamp.

No matter where you fall in line with any of these theories or interpretations of what has been prophesied, the task at hand is to stay committed to the building that God has instructed each of us to do. If you’re among the ones that God has called to be a builder in this season, you must stick with what God said and keep building.

The Church (Ekklesia) is uniquely positioned right now for this time. As an apostolic/prophetic governing body there needs to be people positioned in various areas of the seven mountains to establish secure means of communication to stand against Cancel Culture. They would want nothing more than to see God’s people silenced, impotent, and unable to have any influence in the marketplace and the overall public square.

If the last four years have taught the Church, is that this is a time to come out of the shadows and be what we have been called to be. If we are to be salt and light, we cannot be light by hiding in fear of reprisal. If we are to be salt, we cannot have an effect on society if we remain within the four walls of our temple shakers. We must step out with boldness, think greater and more deeply about the ways in which we are to build upon the foundations. Don’t let how things look prevent you from completing what God spoke to you. Don’t allow how things appear, deter you from staying on task. Find the workarounds. Seek God’s wisdom for a way to keep progressing until God brings forth the revelation of what you have believed He has spoken. When you’ve hit a wall, find the workaround and keep building.
